PERFECT GUIDEBOOK FOR PARENTING!

It took me a while to realize you need to be careful where you get your advice from. Motherly advice is good sometimes.Advice from a friend can be useful too. Some people use a mentor or their pastor when they need serious counsel.

In later years we learned to use the Bible as our guidebook on parenting, marriage, money, and relationships. I prayed for the Lord to grant us
His wisdom every day. The Bible was a perfect
reference and guide because the scriptures are inspired by God.

2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

LIFE LESSON:

My husband and I used good judgement and
made wiser decisions when we used the Bible
as our guide. We knew that we were using the
wisest counsel available.

Today I am sharing the scriptures we used
as our guide on parenting. Children do not
need their parents to be their friend. They
need for them to give consistent rules to
follow and demand respect. Children must
know that they are loved but will receive a
punishment when they disobey.The parents
must agree on their method of punishment
and stick to it. Children will manipulate their
parents when they do not stick together on
the rules. It should be clear to the children
who is in charge.Parents shouldn't try to win
a popularity contest.

The children need chores to do so they will not
be lazy. The TV, video games, computer, and cell
phone should not be your baby sitter. A parent
should spend time alone with each child, even it
happens to be at bedtime. Let the child decide if
he/she wants to talk or have you read a bedtime
story.

My sons had to take out the trash and clean their
rooms. They had to cook one night per week and
take turns washing  the dishes when school was
out for the summer.  My sons helped my husband
with the yard work on the week-ends.They got an
allowance if they did their chores.  We had family
night and the boys chose the activity for us to do.

I have watched TV shows where nannies visited
homes and taught  parenting skills. These homes
are examples of what happens when parents do
not work together.  These nannies taught them
that disorganized and undisciplined homes lead
to chaotic households. The children ruled these
houses and were mean and disrespectful.

Today I am sharing scriptures my husband and
I used as our guide on parenting. They helped
us establish a loving but disciplined home.

LIFE LESSON:

PARENTS SHOW LOVE WHEN THEY DISCIPLINE
THEIR CHILDREN.

PROVERBS  13:24

He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who
loves him disciplines him promptly.

PROVERBS  22:15

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

PROVERBS 29:15

The rod and rebuke give wisdom,
But a child left to himself brings shame to
his mother.

PROVERBS  29:17

Correct your son, and he will give you rest;
Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

LIFE LESSON:

IF YOU TRAIN  CHILDREN WHEN THEY ARE
YOUNG, THEY  WILL REMEMBER IT WHEN
THEY ARE ADULTS.

PROVERBS 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

LIFE LESSON:

DISCIPLINE YOUR CHILDREN BUT DO NOT ABUSE  THEM (CAUSE SEVERE PHYSICAL SUFFERING OR BODILY HARM).

EPHESIANS 6:4

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training
and admonition of the Lord.
