PAINTING: THE MARRIAGE FEAST AT CANA IN GALILE BY  VASILI NESTERENKO My family members came, gave thanks, ate, and were happy.  Some left to do some Black Friday shopping. The rest of them went home to sleep.   I got up and did the dishes as my way of warding  off sleep from my holiday feasting.   The Bible discusses food in figurative and literal terms. You have to  study to figure out when it mentions seed  time and harvest time.  Most of us enjoyed a feast full of delicious food to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Today, I look at scriptures that mention people breaking bread together at feasts and other gatherings. THE FEAST OF ESTHER, FRANS FRACKEN II, CIRCA 1630 ESTHER 2: 18 Then the king made a great feast, the Feast of Esthe for all his officials and servants; and he proclaimed a holiday in the provinces and gave gifts according to the generosity of a king.   DEPICTION: BELSHAZZAR'S (DANIEL) FEAST DANIEL 1:5, 7-8

I sit and think about my loved ones that are no longer here sometime.   I miss them but know they are with the Lord.  2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord I am not angry, I am thankful because I am still here.  I enjoy waking up and rejoicing because, this is the day that the Lord has made! Here are some additional scriptures that remind us be thankful for all  we have: PSALM 105:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord ! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! PSALM 106:1 Praise the Lord ! Oh, give thanks to the Lord , for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. PSALM 107:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord , for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 2 CORINTHIANS  9:15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! COLOSSIANS  2:6-7 6  As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,  7  ro

DEPICTION OF ELIJAH AND WIDOW   My mother taught her children to always say,  "Thank you" when someone did something  nice for us.  Her advice stuck with me and I tried to do this often.I have even called some people a second time to make sure I did not  forget to say, "Thank you".  I say, Thank you  to the Lord throughout the day for each daily blessings.I consider waking up to see another  day and arriving back home safely when I run an errand important.  These are just a few of  my daily blessings that from the Lord.       Today,  I'll share scriptures that show two people who were thankful for the help they received. The  Lord blessed them for being obedient and sharing  with one another.       LIFE LESSON: ELIJAH OBEYS THE LORD; VISITS THE WIDOW. 1 KINGS 17: 10-16, 17, 19, 21-23 10 So he arose and went to  Zarephath. And when  he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he calle

REMEMBER YOUR BROTHER!

This week there will be a lot of hustle and bustle as people prepare for their Thanksgiving Celebrations. I am reminding myself and others to remember the real purpose of the season-to Give Thanks! Wheter I am rich or poor, I am alive and in good health.  That is a blessing for sure!! I can be thankful,  grateful and spread cheer to someone else too.  We must remember people we know in our neighborhood, church, work place, or community that may be in a bad place this Thanksgiving.  I may not know  these people well enough to invite them to my  home: however;there is still a way to help.   The TV and Radio stations always show names of churches, and organizations that feed people  I mentioned. I an make a donation or volunteer to help them serve on Thanksgiving . My 86 year old  neighbor called  me very elated because of a good deed someone did for her.A church  box filled with a turkey, bag of dressing and other items  to prepare her Thanksgiving meal. She lives alon

CALLED BY LORD, PART 9

Image
This week we have looked at men and women that were called by the Lord to perform special actions  and missions. The truth of the matter is, all of the Christians are called by the Lord to perform certain actions daily. Here are some scriptures that advise you of these actions: DEUTERONOMY 6:5  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart , with all your soul , and with all your strength.   JEREMIAH  33:3   Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ MATTHEW 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.   MATTHEW 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’   MARK 12: 28-31 28  Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked H

CALLED BY THE LORD, PART 8

PAINTING: JOSEPH BY GUIDO RENI I was doing Bible study one night and I was curious about people who were CALLED by the Lord. Some men and women in the Bible were asked by Him to perform various actions and missions. It was clear to me that, Mary's husband Joseph,  was CALLED by the Lord. He was asked to wed  Mary even though she would become pregnant. Mary had “immaculate conception” so, Joseph was not intimate with her until after Jesus was  born! Today, I share scriptures which discuss how the Angel told Joseph what the Lord required of him.    PAINTING: SAINT JOSEPH WITH INFANT JESUS BY GUIDO RENI, C 1635   MATTHEW 1:16   And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary,   of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.  MATTHEW 1:18-21, 24-25 18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19  Then J
