LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY

Our minister gave sermons about the miracles performed by Jesus Christ. The scripture about the birth of Mary's baby in Matthew 1 states that he will be called, Emmanuel .  I went to a Bible study and the subject was the names of Jesus.I was blown away when  the Bible teacher said we were going to hear 35 names for Jesus in the New Testament. I found another source that said if you add the names and titles for Jesus, the total is close  to 200!This brings new meaning to the phrase,  " power in the name of Jesus".There is a Bible  verse which says: Philippians 2:10  10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,  Many people in the New Testament used different names an

I was married for 35 years and I am a widow.  I'll be the first to admit that some of those 35  years were stormy. I see senior couples on TV who have been married for more than 35 years  often.  Some of  them act like everything have been perfect all of the time.  I  believe "there is  a lot of water under the bridge." These couples have worked very hard at resolving their issues. They decided to stay married.  As they aged, it was crucial that they help each other cope with  the challenges of daily living. Couples who stay married are willing to work hard at maintaining a loving relationship. They have abandoned selfishness and compromise when they disagree on issues.They understand that their children can be  affected emotionally  when they witness marital discord.   There are divorced couples in churches too.  Some churches have begun to address this  issue. Advice  from a friend can be useful too. Some people use a mentor or their pastor when  they need serious counsel. In later years, we  learned to use the Bible as     our guidebook on parenting, marriage, money,   and relationships.I prayed for the Lord to grant   us His wisdom every day. The Bible was a perfect  reference and guide because the scriptures are inspired by God. I found out about the Bible's rules for marriage   w hen I joined the church.  I considered myself   to be a college educated liberated woman I did    no like the rules given for the wife.In later years, I was able to understand and listen to the rules  in the scriptures about rules for marriage.
