VALENTINE'S DAY LOVE STORIES, 2/13/14

RUTH  2: 1-2, 5-6,  10-11,

1 There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a
man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech.
His name was Boaz.
2 So Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Please
let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain
after him in whose sight I may find favor.”

5 Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge
of the reapers “Whose young woman is this?”
6 So the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered and said,“It is the young Moabite woman who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.

10 So she fell on her face, bowed down to the
ground, and said to him, “Why have I found
favor in your eyes, that you should take notice
of me, since I am a foreigner?”
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has
been fully reported to me, all that you have done
for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and
your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before.

RUTH 4: 13, 16

13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife;
and when he went in to her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son.
16 Then Naomi took the child and laid him on
her bosom, and became a nurse to him.

T
ODAY'S LOVE STORY:
BOAZ AND RUTH

Ruth is the widow of Mahlon. She goes to live
with her mother in law, Naomi after his death.
Boaz is a relative of Naomi and is very wealthy.
Boaz sees Ruth working in the grain fields and  inquires about her.  She asked him why has he
found favor with her. He tells her that he was
impressed by the fact that she left her family
and stayed  with her mother-in-law. They get
married and have one son named Obed.

The scriptures suggests that Boaz is a lot
older than Ruth.  He addresses her as "my
daughter" when he first meets her.  He is
already very protective of her and tells her
to work next to the young women.  He told
the young men not to touch her. He still wants
to marry her even though she is not a Hebrew.
Ruth and Boaz's son, Obed has a son named
Jesse. Jesse is the father of King David.

Ruth cares for Boaz because she eats meals
with him. She lies at his feet while he is sleeping.
Her mother-in- law, Naomi is pleased with the marriage.

This is a beautiful  love story.  Boaz doesn't
care about Ruth's ethnicity or the fact that
she is a widow.  Ruth doesn't let Boaz's age
prevent her from marrying him.
