THE WORSE OFFENSE, BETRAYAL

LAST SUPPER (SHOWS JUDAS IN RIGHT CORNER)

All of us may face betrayal by a friend at some
point in our lives.  Some people become angry
when they find out they have been betrayed.
They feel like they have been tricked and start
to wonder why they did not  see it happening!
Some people become hard-hearted and refuse
to trust any one again. The Bible also tells us
to forgive this person. This doesn't mean that
you pretend that the betrayal never happened.  Forgiveness is necessary in order for you to be
able to move on with your life.If you harbor the
spirit of unforgiveness, your life and health can
be affected. Some studies have documented the
toll the spirit of bitterness has on  the body. We
learn in Proverbs that deceitful people who tell
lies will not go unpunished.

MATHEW  6:14

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

MATTHEW  24:10-11

10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

PROVERBS 19:5

A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape.

The Bible also tell us about the worse betrayal of all.  Judas Iscariot was instrumental in the Crucifixion of Christ.  He did have remorse about his actions and hung himself.  Judas was forgiven.

Luke 22:3-4

Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might
betray Him to them.

Matthew 26:45-50

45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”
47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?”
Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.

Matthew 27:3

Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

Luke 23:34

34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they
do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.
