WHY ARE YOUR SURPRISED?

Last week I shared Scriptures about
the events involved in the Crucifixion
and the Resurrection. I enjoyed sharing
my Bible study discoveries.

But I was puzzled about something at
the end of my study. Why were Mary, mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and
the Disciples perplexed about Jesus’
Resurrection?

LIFE LESSON:

WITNESSES OF MIRACLES BUT SURPRISED
THE @ RESURRECTION!

MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS

Mary, mother of Jesus experienced a supernatural pregnancy. Simeon had
also shared details about Jesus. She
had seen Jesus turn water into wine.
The visits from angels alerted Mary
about Jesus' supernatural power.

LUKE 1:30-32

30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and
bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the

Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

LUKE 2:33-35

33 And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.

34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

JOHN 2:3 & 9

And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They
have no wine.”

When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

LIFE LESSON:

MARY EXPECTS JESUS TO BE IN TOMB

MARK 16: 1

Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James,
and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.

MATTHEW 28:5-6

But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

LIFE LESSON:

MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS, BELIEVES!

I'm not judging Mary, mother of Jesus.
She witnessed her son being crucified.
One of the disciples had to take her
to his home.  She may have also been
so grief-stricken that she could not phantom an empty tomb.

JOHN 19:26-27

26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!”
27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.

The important thing is she did believe
the report of the angel. She also saw
Jesus herself when she was going to
see the disciples.

MATTHEW 28:7-10

And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”
So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.
10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”
