FAMOUS MOTHER & SON, PART 2

I have learned from my Bible Study that there were many supernatural events that happened in the life of Mary and Jesus.
I wondered how these events affected their relationship.

Some of my questions were answered after doing precept upon precept study of the scriptures.

LIFE LESSON:

MARY’S YOUNG SON WAS WORSHIPED

BY MANY PEOPLE!

THE THREE MAGI (BALTHASAR, CASPAR, MELCHIOR)

WISE MEN

MATTHEW 2:7-11

7 Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child,
9 They (WISE MEN)departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

LIFE LESSON:

MARY’S SON HAD AN
ATYPICAL CHILDHOOD

DEPICTION: BOY JESUS IN THE TEMPLE

MATTHEW 2:13

Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”

LUKE 2:40, 42-43, 46, 48-49, 52

40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.

43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it;

46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

48 His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

LIFE LESSON:

MOTHER MARY HAS UNSOLVED MYSTERIES

LUKE 2:27-28, 33-35, 48-50

27 So he ( SIMEON) came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law,

28 He took Him up in his arms and blessed God…

33 And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.

34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 3

35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

48 His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

DEPICTION: MARY & JESUS @ A WEDDING

LIFE LESSON:

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOTHER MARY & HER SON JESUS

 JESUS STARTS HIS MINISTRY

LUKE 3:21 & 23

21 When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized.

23 Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age.

MOTHER MARY & JESUS @ THE WEDDING

JOHN 2: 1-5, 7-9

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.

Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.

When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

MOTHER MARY@ CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS

JOHN 19:25-27

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!”
27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
