FIRE FROM HEAVEN!
I
have been burned by hot stove and steam from boiling water.
The
feeling of the heat on my skin was uncomfortable. I had
to
run cool water over the area for several minutes. The burning
sensation
left and I did not blister.
The
fire and brimstone from hell mentioned in the Bible sounds fierce.
I
don’t want to experience it. The scriptures also mentioned fire as
it
relates to the glory of the Lord. The Israelites saw it many times
and
they declared His greatness and power.
Here
are some of the scriptures that discuss fire and the glory
Of
the Lord:
LIFE
LESSON:
THE
GLORY OF GOD WAS A FIRE FROM HEAVEN
EXODUS
24:17
The sight of the glory
of the Lord was like
a consuming fire on the
top of the mountain in the eyes of the
children of Israel.
DEUTERONOMY
5:24
And you
said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory
and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the
fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still
lives.
2 CHRONICLES
7:1 & 3
1 When Solomon had
finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering
and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
3 When all the
children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory
of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the
ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy
endures forever.”
ISAIAH 4:5
Then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above
her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a
flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will
be a covering.
ISAIAH 10:16
Therefore the Lord, the
Lord of hosts,
Will send leanness among His fat ones;
And under His glory He will kindle a
burning like the burning of a
fire.
ZECHARIAH 2:
4-5
4 who said to him,
“Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as
towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.
5 For I,’ says the
Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all
around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”
