WHAT ABOUT THOSE HYPOCRITES?
THE LAST SUPPER, LEONARDO DA VINCI
I used to like the TV
show called “The Pretender”.I have learned that
you may meet some pretenders in your lifetime.
During my Bible study, I noticed that
Jesus called some people, “hypocrites!”
This week I’m sharing the results of my study on people Jesus called hypocrites.

LIFE LESSON:
TRAITS OF THE
HYPOCRITE
JOB 20:5
That
the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the hypocriteis but
for a moment?
JOB
27:8
For
what is the hope of the hypocrite, Though he may gain much, If
God takes away his life?
MATTHEW 6:2 & 5
2 Therefore,
when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory
from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
5 And when
you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing
in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by
men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
MATTHEW
7:4-5, 15-16
4 Or how can
you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a
plank is in your own eye?
5 Hypocrite!
First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to
remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
15 “Beware of
false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are
ravenous wolves.
16 You will
know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from
thistles?
MATTHEW 15:7-9
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
8 ‘These people draw near to Me with
their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
LUKE 6:42
Or
how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is
in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own
eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you
will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.
GALATIANS 2:13
And
the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even
Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
ROMANS 3:12
“Their
throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
“The poison of asps is under their lips”.
Romans 12:9-10
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;
2
CORINTHIANS 11:13
For
such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into apostles of Christ.
1 PETER 2: 1-3
1 Therefore,
laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,
2 As newborn
babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.
3 If indeed you
have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
