LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY, 2/26/14

MATTHEW 8:3

Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

MATTHEW 20: 32-34

32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened."
34 So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

MARK 8:22, 25

22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him.
25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

People in the near by towns had  heard about
Jesus.  They were in awe of His miracles and healings.  Multitudes of people were following
Jesus every where he went.  Some of the people
he healed with his touch were a leper and blind
men.

LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY

I found out from my psychology class how
important touch was.  A study showed that
babies need to be touched often in order to
live and be healthy.  Some abandoned babies
hadn't received a lot of touching and they were underweight and had health problems.  They
suffered from "Failure to Thrive Syndrome". The doctors allow mothers to touch their  premature babies.  Even if they are too small to hold, they
touch their hands and legs. The mother's is very important.  I recently saw a news story about a
male teacher who volunteers in the nursery.  He
holds and rocks babies. The nurses said that the babies stop crying and respond to his voice and touch.

I pray for Jesus to touch me every day.  I want
His touch whether I am happy or sad or sick or
well. It is nice to be touched by my family and
friends. Truthfully, the touch from man cannot compare with Jesus' supernatural touch!
