WHAT DOES IT MEAN? #4
The church I attend
now puts emphasis
on the cross and the Lamb of God. I do
not avoid Easter symbols like colored
eggs, butterflies,
rabbits, and lilies as
long as their Biblical meanings and
history are addressed.
Today, I am sharing
some scriptures
concerning Passover and Resurrection
Day.
LIFE LESSON:
HISTORY OF THE PASSOVER
EXODUS 12:22-23
23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.
LIFE LESSON:
PASSOVER IS STILL CELEBRATED TODAY:
APRIL 3-APRIL 11 2015
EXODUS 12:27
That you shall say, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice of the Lord,
who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He
struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’” So the people bowed
their heads and worshiped.
On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord’s Passover.
NUMBERS 9:14
‘And if a stranger dwells among you, and would keep the Lord’s Passover, he must do so according to the rite of the Passover and according to its ceremony; you shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger and the native of the land.’”
DEUTERONOMY 16:6
but at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide, there you shall sacrifice the Passover at twilight, at the going down of the sun, at the time you came out of Egypt.
LIFE LESSON:
JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED
LUKE 23:18-21, 33-40
18 And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas"
19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.
20 Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.
21 But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”

20 Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.
21 But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”
33 And
when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified
Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.
34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”And they divided His garments and cast lots.
35 And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”
36 The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,
37 and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”
38 And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew:

THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
MARK 8:31
MATTHEW 16:21
From that
time Jesus began to show
to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem,
and suffer many things
from the elders and chief priests and scribes,
and be killed, and be raised
the third day.
MARK 16:1- 7
1 Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.
2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.
3 And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”
4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.
5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.
6 But
he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who
was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they
laid Him. 7 But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”
JOHN 11:24-25
24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who
believes in Me, though he may die,
he shall live.
