HISTORICAL CONTEXT



The Bible book of Matthew tells us that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. It is also referred to 
as the city of David.  The Church of the Nativity is located in the center of Bethlehem.  Millions of tourists go there yearly.  Christmas time celebrations are held there in December and January.  Processions and church services are part of the celebration.


LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY

One of my favorite Christmas carols is,
"Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem." It was
written by Phillip Brooks in  1867.  You
can hear church choirs singing this song
during the Christmas Holiday.  Radio Stations include it in their  music selections.  I bought
a CD with this song on it and it was song by

CALLED BY THE LORD, PART 6

DEPICTION OF JONAH RUNNING AWAY FROM THE LORD I was doing Bible study one night and it became clear to me that, Noah, Moses, Jonah, Deborah, Jael, Lydia, Seller of Purple, Rehab, The Twelve Disciples, and Paul were all CALLED by God. The Lord may require  some people to carry out a special task.There will be others that may be required to minister His Word and  travel around the world as a missionary.      This week I'll share scriptures about different men  and women that were called by the Lord. Some of these people were rebellious and did not want to answer His call.  All eventually did the Lord's will. Today, I will share scriptures which discuss that the Lord CALLED a man named Jonah.  He did not want to answer the Lord's call and ran away.  There were consequences to Jonah's actions. Today, I'll share scriptures which show how  a prostitute named  Rahab was used to help  Joshua's spies. Joshua, son of Nun, became  the ruler for the Israelites after Moses died. The Bible also tells us that the Lord is "not a respecter of persons"and accepts all who will respect him. It can be His will to use a harlot (prostitute)
