LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY, 12/17/13
2 CORINTHIANS 2:11
Lest satan should get an
advantage of us:
for we are not ignorant of his devices.
for we are not ignorant of his devices.
MATTHEW 4: 10-11
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with
you,
satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship
the Lord your God, and Him only you shall
serve.”
satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship
the Lord your God, and Him only you shall
serve.”
11 Then the
devil left Him, and behold,
angels came and ministered to Him.
angels came and ministered to Him.
HISTORICAL
CONTEXT
It is clear
from the Bible books of 2 Corinthians
and Matthew that satan has been around since
Biblical times. His ultimate goal is to get Jesus
to worship him. He likes to trick and manipulate
the Lords’ children because he thinks that they
are easier prey to capture.

LIFE LESSON
FOR TODAY
I have been guilty of
writing “Xmas”
when I am in a hurry to finish preparing
when I am in a hurry to finish preparing
Christmas cards for the
mail. Research
shows that “Xmas” has been used
shows that “Xmas” has been used
since the 16th
century. I have
stopped using “Xmas” because of the
current trend by some to remove
religious words from everything
possible. I don’t accept the greeting
“ Happy Holiday” in retail stores by
the sales clerks. I say “no, Merry
Christmas!” I don’t want anyone to
think that I want to exclude The
Lord from anything.
I need to remember that Jesus is
the reason for the Christmas season.
Santa Claus has also been called
Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas,
Kris Kringle. Research shows that
he was a Christian man who gave
gifts to the poor. His gift giving idea
has been taken to a new level in
today’s world. Some people focus
only on the gifts and Santa. The
original purpose has been lost
for several years.
