LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY, BE THANKFUl, 11/25/13
DEUTERONOMY 16:15
Seven days you shall keep a sacred feast to the Lord your God in the place which the Lord chooses, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you surely rejoice.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
The Israelites followed this command in Bibles days. Some Jews even follow this today. This time period of celebration is called Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. There as no work done and they gave thanks to God for their harvest. This is the second of three festivals.
LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY
There are very few farmers who harvest large volumes of crops these day. Today we have
local organic farmers. The point is, most of
us still have food to eat. It doesn't matter
whether it was mass produced by big name
food processors or local farmers. I am still
thankful to the Lord for blessing me with
food to eat.
He is my Jehovah Jireh which means, the Lord our provider. There are hungry people all around us who are hunting for food in garbage cans. I am thankful
it and pray that these people have access to ample food on Thanksgiving and every other day of the year. I do supply food when TV stations or churches have food drives.
