YES, JESUS PRAYED! #2
Some of friends reported feeling sick due
a virus. They had missed work and had kids to care for. I prayed for them to
have a quick recovery.
I know Jesus healed people. "Did he pray for them too?" I suddenly remembered a beautiful painting I saw. It shows Jesus
praying at Gethsemane.
Today I’ll share more scriptures
which
35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying,
“This is My beloved Son.[a] Hear Him!”
36 When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.
41 And He was withdrawn from them about a
stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,
42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
describe how, when, and under what
circumstances Jesus prayed.
LIFE LESSON:
WHEN JESUS PRAYED!
LUKE
3:21-22
21
When all the people were baptized, it
came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed,
the heaven was opened.
22 And the Holy Spirit descended
in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said,
“You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Luke 6:12
Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the
mountain
to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
LUKE 9:12-18
12 When the day
began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away,
that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get
provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.”
13 But He said to
them, “You give them something to eat.”
And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two
fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.”
14 For there were
about five thousand men.
Then He said to His disciples, “Make
them sit down in groups of fifty.”
15 And they did so,
and made them all sit down.
16 Then He took the
five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke
them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.
17 So they all ate
and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by
them.
18 And it happened, as He was alone praying, that
His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say
that I am?”
LUKE 9:28-36
28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He
took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
29 As He
prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became
white and glistening.
30 And behold,
two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31 who
appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at
Jerusalem.
32 But Peter
and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they
saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.
33 Then it
happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one
for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.
34 While he was
saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they
entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying,
“This is My beloved Son.[a] Hear Him!”
36 When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.
Luke 11:1-4
1 Now it came to
pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of
His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his
disciples.”
2 So He said to
them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.”
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.”
Luke 22:31-34, 41-44
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for
you, that he may sift you as wheat.
32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith
should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your
brethren.”
33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go
with You, both to prison and to death.”
34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not
crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
