THE PRAYER LIFE, DANIEL
DEPICTION: DANIEL DREAM
http://hookedonthebook.com
I recall learning about as a child in Sunday School. The
teacher told us that he was put in a lion’s den. We colored
pictures of this scene to help us remember him. I also learned
that there was more to this story. King Darius made
a decree forbidding anyone to pray to any god. Daniel broke this rule because
he loved God. He was
a true prayer
warrior!
This week I’ll share scriptures about Daniel’s prayer life.
LIFE LESSON:
DANIEL PRAYS
FOR MERCY FROM GOD
DANIEL 1:
6
Now from
among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael,
and
Azariah.
DANIEL 2:
5-2, 16-20, 24
5 The king (Nebuchadnezzar) answered and said to the
Chaldeans, “My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and
its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made
an ash heap.
6 However, if you tell the dream and its
interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts, rewards, and great honor. Therefore
tell me the dream and its interpretation
16 So Daniel went
in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the
interpretation.
17 Then Daniel went
to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
his companions,
18 That they might seek
mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel
and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of
Babylon.
19 Then the secret was
revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God
of heaven.
20 Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God
forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His.
24 Therefore Daniel
went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of
Babylon. He went and said thus to him: “Do not destroy the wise men of
Babylon; take me before the king, and I will tell the king the interpretation.”
