THE BEST GIFT!

I never considered myself to be a great gift
giver.  It is very easy to buy for your children
because they start giving you a wish list right
after Thanksgiving!  My husband never gave
me a wish list.  He would buy  his own best
gift.  He would save all year to get what he
had been pining for and buy it at Christmas.
One year he bought a 50 gallon octagon fish
aquarium. The next year he bought a green
four wheel drive vehicle.  This put me at a
disadvantage.I got him a black leather coat
one year and he really loved this coat.  My
other gifts never seem to get as much praise!
I stopped worrying about it and bought his a
case of Omaha Steaks every Christmas.

As I got older and much wiser, I realized that
the love of Jesus is the most precious gift I
could ever receive! Here are some scriptures
which discuss giving:

DEUTERONOMY 10:18

He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow,
and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.

DEUTERONOMY 15: 7

“If there is among you a poor man of your brethren,
within any of the gates in your land which the Lord
your God is giving you, you shall not harden your
heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother,

1 CHRONICLES 16:29, 34-35

16 Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord
in the beauty of holiness!

34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
35 And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation; Gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, To give thanks
to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.”

PROVERBS 22:9

He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives
of his bread to the poor.

LUKE 6:38

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure,
pressed down, shaken together, and running over
will be put into your bosom. For with the same
measure that you use, it will be measured back
to you.”

2 CORINTHIANS 9:7

So let each one give as he purposes in
his heart,not grudgingly or of necessity;
for God loves a cheerful giver.

ACTS 20:35

I have shown you in every way, by laboring
like this, that you must support the weak.
And remember the words of the Lord Jesus,
that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give
than to receive.’”
