LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY, 7/1/14

ANGEL APPEARS TO CORNELIUS
This week I will continue to study the roles
that God assigned His angels in the Bible.
There are numerous scriptures that show
the angels helping God's people in all types
of circumstances.
This study is not meant to be a complete study
of angels. My knowledge of angels was limited
and I wanted to learn more about them. I am
sharing scriptures that gave me insight to the
role of the angels during Bible days.
I want to share scriptures today which show
how angels were sent to be instrumental in
converting people. They begin to believe in
Jesus and their lives were changed forever.
LIFE LESSON:
Angel tells to go meet a eunuch. Phillip helps eunuch to understand the scriptures. He believed and agreed to be baptised.
ACTS 8:26-27, 30-31, 34-38
26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert.
27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,
30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?”
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.
36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is
water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still.
And both Philip and the eunuch went down into
the water, and he baptized him.
LIFE LESSON:
Angel tells Cornelius (Gentile & Centurion)
to send men to Joppa and send for Peter.
Peter preaches to the Gentiles (non Jews)
and explains that Jesus is not partial to
Jews or Gentiles. This truth is proven when
the Holy Spirit falls on all of the people who were there (Jews and the Gentiles).
ACTS 10: 1-5, 34-35,38,42-48
1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the
Italian Regiment,
2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.
3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly
in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying
to him, “Cornelius!”
4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord? ”So he said to him,“Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.
5 Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.
34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.
35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the
Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the
devil, for God was with Him.
42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God
to be Judge of the living and the dead.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.
45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because
the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,
47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a
few days.
