LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY, 4/28/14

I have been hearing sermons on TV and at church about, "Jesus Is Coming Back
Soon" for several years.  There have even been some pastors trying to give us the day that  this will happen. Each predicted date always passes with this great event  never occurring. The Bible
book 2 Peter 3 says:

...that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years.

Wow, I'm still trying to let this sink in my brain.

This week I'll give scriptures which talk this subject. The scriptures below show that Jesus' disciples were curious about this also. Jesus always wanted them to focus on their preparation for the Lord's return. Would they be ready and would the Lord say, " Well done my faithful servant?"
 


MATTHEW  24:1-3


1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple,
and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of
the temple.

2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things?
Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon
another, that shall not be thrown down.” The Signs of the
Times and the End of the Age

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came
to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be?
And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end
of the age?”

CALLED BY THE LORD, PART 6

DEPICTION OF JONAH RUNNING AWAY FROM THE LORD I was doing Bible study one night and it became clear to me that, Noah, Moses, Jonah, Deborah, Jael, Lydia, Seller of Purple, Rehab, The Twelve Disciples, and Paul were all CALLED by God. The Lord may require  some people to carry out a special task.There will be others that may be required to minister His Word and  travel around the world as a missionary.      This week I'll share scriptures about different men  and women that were called by the Lord. Some of these people were rebellious and did not want to answer His call.  All eventually did the Lord's will. Today, I will share scriptures which discuss that the Lord CALLED a man named Jonah.  He did not want to answer the Lord's call and ran away.  There were consequences to Jonah's actions.
