LIFE LESSON FOR TODAY, 3/26/14

MATTHEW 5: 6-7



6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.





HISTORICAL CONTEXT

Jesus was giving a sermon on a 
mountain to His disciples and the
people who followed Him. This 
sermon is called " The Sermon on
The Mount". His message to them
was, that there are behaviors and 
attitudes that He will bless. He also
explained to them what the result 
of His blessings would be. These
blessings in the Bible are called 
"The Beatitudes". I will feature 
the blessings in "The Beatitudes"
every day this  week. I hope the
daily activity will reinforce the
meaning of  "The Beatitudes".

CALLED BY THE LORD, PART 6

DEPICTION OF JONAH RUNNING AWAY FROM THE LORD I was doing Bible study one night and it became clear to me that, Noah, Moses, Jonah, Deborah, Jael, Lydia, Seller of Purple, Rehab, The Twelve Disciples, and Paul were all CALLED by God. The Lord may require  some people to carry out a special task.There will be others that may be required to minister His Word and  travel around the world as a missionary.      This week I'll share scriptures about different men  and women that were called by the Lord. Some of these people were rebellious and did not want to answer His call.  All eventually did the Lord's will. Today, I will share scriptures which discuss that the Lord CALLED a man named Jonah.  He did not want to answer the Lord's call and ran away.  There were consequences to Jonah's actions. Today, I'll share scriptures which show how  a prostitute named  Rahab was used to help  Joshua's spies. Joshua, son of Nun, became  the ruler for the Israelites after Moses died. The Bible also tells us that the Lord is "not a respecter of persons"and accepts all who will respect him. It can be His will to use a harlot (prostitute)
