CHIEF PRIESTS, SANHEDRIN, PHARISEES
PLOT AGAINST JESUS
MATTHEW 21: 14-15, 23, & 45
14 The blind and the lame came to him (JESUS) at the temple, and he healed them.
15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.
23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?”
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus’ parables, they knew he was talking about them.
46 They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.
MATTHEW 26: 3-4
3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas.
4 And they schemed to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.
MATTHEW 27: 1& 19-20
1 Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.
19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
MARK 11: 17-18
17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written:
‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.”
18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.
MARK 14:53 & 55
53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together.
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any.
JOHN 12: 9-10 & 17-19
10 So the chief priests made plans to kill
Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of
him many of the Jews were going over to
Jesus and believing in him.
17 Now the crowd that was with
him (JESUS) when he called Lazarus
from the tomb and raised him from the
dead continued to spread the word.
18 Many people, because they had heard
that he had performed this sign, went out
to meet him.
19 So the Pharisees said to one another,
“See, this is getting us nowhere. Look
how the whole world has gone after him!”
